The next South Coast Championships Rowing Regatta to be hosted by the Hants & Dorset Amateur Rowing Association and will take place on Saturday, 14th September, 2024 at the Royal Victoria Country Park, Netley, Southampton - the same venu as the 2021 Championships.

Accommodation.

The 2024 (647th) South Coast Rowing Championship Regatta and the 18th Under 16 Regatta, hosted by the Hants & Dorset Amateur Rowing Association will take place from the Royal Victoria Country Park, Netley, Southampton on Saturday, 16th September 2024.

The village of Netley, near the city’s outskirts, is home to Netley Abbey, a ruined 13th-century monastery and church. In the Royal Victoria Country Park, with rolling lawns and woods set beside Southampton Water estuary, a chapel is all that remains of a huge military hospital. Victoria Road has quaint cottages and estuary views, and walking paths run along the shore and through nearby countryside.

Although there is no accommodation on site – except for Bell Tent Glamping - the venue is conveniently located near Southampton, where there is an abundance of accommodation and entertainment to suit all budgets.

From heritage hotels to boutique B&B’s, Southampton has no shortage of places to stay.

The city of has a rich maritime history and much of this can be celebrated in places to stay.

We have identified over one hundred hotels and guesthouses in the area and there are two campsites near to the Royal Victoria Country Park and a “Glamping” site in the park itself.

Bell Tent Glamping

Set in the historic grounds of Royal Victoria Country Park, they offer all the fun of camping with the luxury of a log-burning stove, carpets and soft mattresses.  This bohemian experience boasts male and female facilities, which are cleaned regularly and kept to an excellent standard. There are plenty of family activities for all within the surrounding area. Royal Victoria Country Park has three play areas to ensure that the kids have plenty to entertain them on site.  Also, a miniature railway and hundreds of acres of open space and forest for everyone to explore. Netley shore runs along the front of the country park giving beautiful views of Southampton and the Isle of White. A café on site and plenty of restaurants and pubs in the local area mean that good food and good company is never far away. Each tent provides an electric fire for heating on those fresh evenings all year round. The tents have cosy carpets and raised beds with fitted sheets for your comfort.  Please remember to bring bedding with you, as pillows and duvets are not provided. A small supply of cutlery and crockery including cooking utensils are available for your use during your stay. Each tent has two sockets and two usb sockets. The Touring Park is open all year round and only five minutes from the M27 J8 and is an ideal location for Southampton, The New Forest, Bournemouth, and Portsmouth. Its 20mins from the Ferry Ports & Portsmouth Park & Ride, 15mins from the Red Funnel, Isle of Wight Ferry & cruise terminal. The park has 41 level premier pitches with electric, water & grey waste drain (24 hard standing) with a separate camping field and dog walk. The site is situated 3 miles East of Southampton City Centre with bus stops nearby for Southampton & Hamble (bus every 30mins), Gosport and Portsmouth (bus every hour).  In addition, for those more adventurous, it is just a short distance from The Solent Way Coastal Route for hikers and cyclists. Stella and Bill Matthews were both born in the area, have plenty of local knowledge, and will offer you a very warm welcome, 4 wardens on site during the summer. The Touring Park has security barriers to enter and exit the park and is situated at Netley Abbey close to Southampton, St Mary’s Football Stadium and the Ageas Bowl.
